100KB is one of the tightest limits you will meet on a PDF upload field. It tends to show up on application portals that handle huge numbers of documents, such as entrance-exam registrations, government service forms and identity (KYC) verification steps. The form simply refuses the file, and often the error message does not say how far over you are.

This page opens with 100KB already selected, so you can drop your file in and go. To get that small, the compressor turns every page into a JPEG image and searches for the quality and resolution that fit under the limit. A short text document or a one-page scan usually has a chance; a long, photo-heavy file may not fit, and if it does not, you are shown the smallest size that was reached.

Need a size other than 100KB? Use the target size compressor and enter any limit.

Good to know

  • 100KB here means 102,400 bytes (1KB = 1,024 bytes), the same convention as the other presets.
  • Every page is rebuilt as a JPEG at the original page size, so selectable text is lost.
  • A result between about 55% and 100% of the goal counts as reached, so it can come out a little under 100KB.
  • If the goal cannot be reached, you get the smallest size the search found, plus a notice.

How it works

01

Check the 100KB preset

The target size selector above the upload area already has 100KB chosen. If your form uses a different limit, tap another size or type your own.

02

Add your PDF

Drop the file in or pick it from your device. It stays on your device; nothing is sent to a server.

03

Compress and check the size

Press Start Compression. When it finishes you see the final size next to your 100KB goal, and a clear notice if the goal was not reached.

Common use cases

Exam and admission portals

Some registration pages ask for a scanned certificate or declaration at 100KB or less. Compress it here, then confirm the final size shown before you upload it.

Government service forms

Some online public-service applications cap each attachment at a very small size. A one- or two-page letter or proof of address is the kind of file that can realistically get there.

KYC and identity verification

Account-opening flows sometimes limit each uploaded document. Because pages become images, a signature or stamp stays visible, though fine print gets softer as the size drops.

Frequently asked questions

Is it realistic to get a multi-page PDF under 100KB?

It depends on the number of pages and what is on them. Every page has to fit in the same 100KB budget, so a one- to three-page document of mostly text or a simple scan is far more likely to fit than ten pages of photographs. If the tool cannot reach 100KB it tells you the smallest size it managed. In that case, splitting the file or keeping only the pages the form needs often helps more than compressing harder.

Is 100KB counted as 100 or 102.4 thousand bytes?

The 100KB preset uses 1KB = 1,024 bytes, so the goal is 102,400 bytes. Some upload forms count 1KB as 1,000 bytes, which makes their limit slightly stricter. If your form is strict about it, type a custom size such as 95KB so the result lands safely under the limit.

Why did my file come out smaller than 100KB, such as 70KB?

The tool counts a result as on target when it lands between roughly 55% and 100% of the goal, so a 100KB goal can produce anything from about 55KB up to 100KB. Landing below the limit is fine for an upload field. The search stops as soon as an attempt lands inside that window.

Will the text in my 100KB PDF still be selectable?

No. To reach this size every page is converted into an image, so the text becomes part of the picture and can no longer be selected, copied or searched. If your form needs a PDF with real text, the standard compressor keeps the text layer, but it may not shrink a file all the way to 100KB.

What happens if my PDF is already under 100KB?

Nothing is changed. The original file is returned as it is, and you are told it was already below the target, so a small file is never turned into a lower-quality one.

Other target sizes

Each page below presets one limit and works the same way. Pick the one your form asks for, or use the general tool to enter any size.
